Technology and Education

Being an educator who strongly supports and encourages the use of technology in classrooms, I love reading the ideas and comments expressed by others regarding student learning and technology.  I have always held the view that it is essential for educators to ensure that they are well  aware of the most up-to-date advancements in technology; and for them to take time to determine how such technology can best be used in teaching.  Then - as fast as possible - educators should ensue that this technology becomes part of their students' educational experience.

The following are some wonderful quotations:

"Education is at a turning point."
- Howard Gardner

"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow."
- John Dewey

"Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in another time."
- Chinese Proverb

"Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids to work together, the teacher is the most important."
- Bill Gates

"Technology can become the 'wings' that will allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than ever before - if we allow it."
- Jenny Arledge
